Bag and gloves: the perfect combination

Canadian designer Ela Kowalewska demonstrates the perfect combination of leather and high-end fashion in her creation of handbags. The premise behind this Canadian company is humble luxury, in which accessories seek to showcase, rather than obscure, the wearer.

Just like Ines, Ela infuses a high degree of quality craftsmanship, luxury, and elegance into each of her creations. Based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, Ela's handbags make the perfect complement to my short every day glace gloves.

And saving the best for last...

Personally, I cannot be more excited about my favourite fashion trend this spring in Canada... leather!!! Perhaps the most versatile material ever discovered, leather is practical, yet fashionable and oh-so-much fun.

This spring, Canadian designers are using leather in more subtle ways. Though jackets and pants will ensure forever, we are seeing more leather gloves a la Ines...

Two spring trends come together in a single ensemble, with florals and my sensual shoulder high gloves combining forces to create a beautiful spring outfit. So very feminine and elegant...

Though black is timeless, don't be timid when it comes to using colour this spring. My short every day glace gloves are available in so many happy colours, that it should be easy to enhance your elegance and chose a colour to match your personality.

Explore all of the styles trending in Canada this spring, and visit the Ines Gloves' gloveshop to make leather gloves part of it all!Share/Bookmark

Walking comfortably in Canada with Ines Gloves

Oh, the dreaded day is here! Sadly, this is one Canadian fashion trend that I simply cannot be a part of... ballet flats and sneakers.

My feet enjoy comfort as much as the next person, but this Canadian girl is a firm believer in the adage fashion over function. My feet may kill me, but as long as the heels look great, I am happy.

Nonetheless, it is my duty as a fashion blogger to report that this spring, Canadians are leaving their heels at home and opting for more comfortable, colourful ballet flats and running shoes. I have to admit that my short every day glace gloves and matching flats do look quite spring-like and fun.

Could this be the season when this Canadian changes her mind and finds comfort for her feet??? Not a chance... :)

This season, Ines Gloves has refreshed the "green grass" colour, and have designed many glove styles in this new, happy and colourful print. This season in Canada is all about matching pastels, especially greens and light pinks, together, rather than choosing shades of the same hue.

Enjoy spring in Canada this season, because it is finally here!Share/Bookmark

Spring in Canada... fresh flowers

No one who saw The Devil Wears Prada will ever forget the infamous line from Miranda Priestley (played beautifully by the incomparable Meryl Streep)... "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking..."

Well, what Miranda fails to realize is that florals - the ultimate in femininity - are here to stay. Join in and celebrate spring in Canada this season with a floral print, flowy dress, and a pair of my short every day glace gloves.

Fresh florals are not just limited to dresses either. A printed scarf can easily be toned complemented with a delicate pair of my pearl shorty gloves to gain elegance from all of your chosen accessories.

Even Kendall Jenner joined the ongoing trend of florals on the runways of Paris, matching her muted floral tones to my warm silk perforated gloves, which already have an elegant floral print of their very own!

Celebrate spring in Canada with big, bold, and unabashedly sophisticated floral prints and Ines Gloves...Share/Bookmark

Canadian designer Smythe pairs new fashion with Ines Gloves

The creative genius behind Smythe Inc, Andrea Lenczner and Christie Smythe, have created a beautiful line of contemporary jackets and coats that evoke emotion, inspire nostalgia, and will ultimately form the basis of any wardrobe. Each piece is flawless in its design and uniquely created using textures, colors, and patterns that derive distinctly from traditional menswear designs.

The distinctive and perfectly-tailored fit lent itself to the huge success of the Smythe collection when originally launched in 2004. Since that time, the uniquely Canadian design company has been featured in such renowned publications as Harper’s BazaarInStyle magazine, and Teen Vogue.

The Smythe collections are increasingly expansive, with a celebrity following that includes Anne Hathaway and Blake Lively!

The celebrity following of Smythe includes the incredibly talented Blake Lively, star of such films as The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and is currently featured on the weekly television show Gossip Girl.

This beautiful jacket is very similar in design to the one worn by Blake Lively in the previous photo. A very simple, traditional cut in an elegant color that demonstrates a timeless design. Picture this: a pair of my fashion scoop half gloves in my silver or my haze to offer a subtle complement to an already fabulous design!

This is a jacket that really pops! The firey red color makes this a perfect fall or spring jacket, and a perfect partner to a pair of leather pants, my sensual oh-la-la leg gloves, or a longer leather skirt. Experiment with different fabric types for a knockout outfit!

This pale blue jacket makes a wonderful addition to a professional ensemble, or it can accompany a pair of jeans for a casual stroll. Either way, the uniquely tailored design lends itself to a slimming, sexy fit! In keeping with the traditional design, try pairing this jacket with a simple yet elegant pair of Ines' my short everyday glace gloves!

Canadian leather fashion - is it truly "made in Canada"?

We love our leather products here in Canada... gloves, handbags, boots, jackets. Unfortunately, so much of the leather we purchase in Canada is actually manufactured outside of the country and brought in under a specific, Canadian label. With Ines Gloves, however, the leather may be purchased elsewhere in Europe, but the gloves are carefully made in Amsterdam.

So, what do you do when you want to purchase a uniquely Canadian-made leather item? Your only option is to find a Canadian designer with a similar philosophy...

Look no further than Montreal-based label M0851! Since 1987, the creative design team of M0851 has sought to create leather handbags, jackets, and accessories that are not only made in our own Canadian backyard, but that combine charm and functionality as well.

Like Ines Gloves, every M0851 item has a unique element of "Je ne sais quoi" added in... whether it is a creative design or simply a natural flaw in the leather used in manufacturing, every M0851 item has a well-known identity.

The criteria for M0851 is straightforward... authenticity, innovation, high quality, and charm.

A simple M0851 leather handbag would match perfectly with a pair of my short every day glace gloves from Ines, in my desert brown. A homegrown handbag deserves a special pair of gloves...

And what is an M0851 leather jacket without a pair of my man fingerless peccary driving gloves?

Timeless leather in Canadian skies...

We all agree that leather glove fashion is timeless, but I have finally found the proof...

In a recent fashion show in Canada, models showed vintage flight attendant uniforms for Air Canada. The 1966 ensemble is shown above, complete with a pair of my short every day glace gloves in my cloud white. From this, it is clear that even though the uniforms are vintage, their elegance continues to apply today! Share/Bookmark

With the dreaded winter coming, there will be lots of parents sitting in cold hockey rinks, watching their little ones play the Canadian sport of kings... hockey!

But there is always room for elegance... even in a hockey arena, and the designers at the Marilyn Denis show in Toronto, Ontario, showed that with a little indulgence, fashion can be found in the most unlikely places. My short every day glace gloves are multifunctional - they keep your hands warm AND looking fabulous!Share/Bookmark

Canadian fashion label Pink Tartan pays homage to Canadian fashion

Canada's well-known design label Pink Tartan has recently introduced its fall line that looks to Canadian fashion, past and future. The collection was inspired by the famed 1966 editorial in Vogue (The Great Fur Caravan), which featured models dressed in authentic, elaborate furs and beautiful head wraps. Nothing gets me through the Canadian winter better than the ability to don my favourite fur coat and Ines leather gloves!

Textured fabrics, layers, and fur all combine to create a masterful collection for fall 2014. And what better accessory to pair with fur than a pair of my short every day glace gloves! Experiment with colour too... black is timeless, but colour for the cool weather is a must.

Without a doubt, no other collection on the runways for fall 2014 have mastered the layered look quite as well as Pink Tartan. Look for this collection to hit the television airwaves on the Shopping Channel, making these unique Canadian designs accessible to all.Share/Bookmark

UGGs and Ines leather gloves

UGGs... these shapeless, unisex boots made from sheepskin and originally used in Australian surf culture exploded on the fashion scene in Canada in 2004. Since then, when Toronto turns white with snow, the UGGs come out to play... to be used for snow and ice?!

Now, all of a sudden, we're seeing UGGs worn with leggings, mini skirts, jeans... you name it, people wear it. One thing is for certain, however... they look beautiful with a pair of my short every day glace gloves!

Are UGGs here to stay? I believe they are, but please use caution when wearing them, as they don't seem to have the best traction on the ice. Share/Bookmark

Canadian women in hats - can a 2004 trend still hold true?

2004 was a bit of a disaster when it came to fashion... this year introduced some of the strangest trends, but now all of a sudden, 2014 is showing new takes on these weird and wonderful ideas!

The first questionable trend is the woman's hat... can this trend survive 2014? The easy answer is yes! Hats were worn centuries ago, and have exploded yet again onto the fashion scene.

The streets of Toronto, Ontario, Canada can be treacherous in winter, and a hat can be both practical and fashionable. I myself have ventured outside with one of my favourite vintage hats and a pair of my short every day glace gloves.

So, if you're wondering whether hats are here to stay, the resounding response is... yes, they are! Share/Bookmark

Ines' 5 days of fashion at Toronto Fashion Week: Day 5

As the curtain draws to a close at Toronto Fashion Week 2014, the runways are graced one final time by designers like Matthew Gallaugher and Stephan Caras. Beautiful fabrics, appealing patterns, and timeless silhouettes were the story of the day...

~ What looks better with a scooped neckline than a pair of my fashion scoop half gloves? Try them in a beautifully vibrant color to complement the darker shade of this elegant dress.

~ Neutral tones will be big for fall 2014, but why not liven things up with an elegant pair of my short every day glace gloves? This dress has a very elegant silhouette, complemented perfectly by these classic gloves...

~ There is nothing wrong with the little black dress, but fall 2014 is about color as well. The slender neckline and short sleeves of this dress would be perfectly matched to a petite pair of my petite cashmere lined gloves for a longer accessory, or my pearl shorty gloves for an elegant, timeless look that has vintage appeal.

Toronto Fashion Week 2014 brought some beautiful new and innovative ideas to the Canadian runways. I hope you enjoyed what you saw, and remember that for every design, there is an Ines Glove perfectly matched to it!
