Beat the Canadian heat with Ines Gloves

With every new season, the fashion runways seem to flood our senses with the latest and greatest micro-trends, which can make it very difficult for women to prepare their wardrobes to last the season. The most important thing to consider when revamping your closet is whether or not each new trend is worth it.

One piece of advice that I would like to share with all of our Friends of Elegance is that the leather trend is not only here to stay, but that investing in several staple leather pieces will keep your wardrobe fresh season after season.

I've searched the racks in Canadian leather retailers to find the most basic, flattering, and fun leather pieces in which to invest.

Jumpsuits have made a splash on the runways again, so why not combine 2 trends into 1? The leather jumpsuit will make for a cool look in summer, but can be recycled in winter with a long-sleeved shirt or blouse underneath. Throw in a unique pair of my fashion scoop half gloves and you have a summer look fit for the runway!

Whether you choose leather shorts, skirts, or blazers, an investment in leather is an investment in your own personal style...Share/Bookmark

Enjoy the happy, glovey colours of spring in Canada

Spring is the time when we can finally let go of our winter leather gloves in black and gray, and indulge in the colorful palette of leather glove trends for spring and summer 2015.

Pastels, primary colors, gold, and silver leather gloves will soon be gracing the Canadian fashion runways as a complement to cropped jackets and wide-legged pants.

For a spring color palatte like no other, indulge in a pair of my fashion scoop half gloves, available in silver, gold, and the beautiful pastels of spring.

The best part about these colors and these unique gloves is that they transition perfectly from day to evening wear, regardless of whether you wear them to work, for a night on the town, or while relaxing on the weekend.

Choose your fashion scoop half gloves wisely... choose often... and fill your closet with all the new colors of spring in Canada.Share/Bookmark

Spring in Canada... show a little skin

This spring marks the return of a trend I had thought was gone forever. Singer Miley Cyrus brought the crop top back into popular culture in 2013, and it seems as though it is here to stay. However, crop tops are now much more elegant, especially when seen on Canadian streets with Ines Gloves.

Here, my fashion scoop half gloves bring a formerly 80s-inspired look into a more elegant, modern ensemble. Even celebrities like Taylor Swift are incorporating the crop top into their red carpet outfits!

The elegant crop top is, by far, my favourite tone of this returned trend. For those of you looking for an edgier, rocker chic look for the Canadian spring...

... check your local vintage shops, as I'm certain you can find some of those high-waisted jeans and a ruffled crop to head out for the afternoon. Add just a touch of feminine elegance with my fashion fingerless driving gloves for a unique twist to an older trend.

Enjoy this spring in Canada.... recycling has become increasingly popular, and this is no more evident than in fashion!Share/Bookmark

Spring in Canada... the Bohemian babe!

Spring has finally arrived in Canada! The remaining patches of dirty white snow have melted, the roads are becoming cleaner, and Canadian stores are currently getting rid of the last of their winter accessories (tip: it's the perfect time to stock up for next winter!).

With these new changes, the latest and greatest fashion trends appear... first up is the bohemian babe, a return to all things light and flowey.

Gone are the days of mini-skirts and tank tops. Exchange these revealing items for a return to comfort and femininity. The newest "boho chic" look for spring 2015 is filling with long, flowing, ultra-light dresses from designers such as Vera Wang.

~ Feel free to pair the floorlength flowiness of this beautiful dress with a fun pair of my fashion scoop half gloves in a complementary colour!

~ Blue is perhaps one of the most romantic colours for spring. And nothing goes better with romantic than a lovely pair of  my fingerless half scoop leather gloves!

~ And for the cooler days of spring, a longer Ines Glove is more than acceptable. My sensual almost elbow high gloves, perhaps?

Ines makes an appearance on Canadian television!

Though I certainly wish Ines herself could visit us on Canadian soil, a pair of her beautiful leather gloves will just have to do!

This past week, American Idol contestant Jax from East Brunswick, New Jersey, wowed audiences all across Canada with her rendition of Lady Gaga's hit Poker Face.

Unfortunately, I didn't feel that the song really captured Jax's vocal ability, but her brilliantly red fashion scoop half gloves really impressed me!

Her ensembles throughout this season's competition have repeatedly featured leather scoop gloves of all forms...

In the above promotional photograph, Jax shows an edgier, rocker chic side with a pair of my glossy fashion fingerless driving gloves.

And finally, Jax pairs beautiful blue with my fingerless half scoop leather gloves on stage...

We in Canada look forward to more performances and more leather gloves in this coming season! Good luck to all contestants!Share/Bookmark

Canadian designer Smythe pairs new fashion with Ines Gloves

The creative genius behind Smythe Inc, Andrea Lenczner and Christie Smythe, have created a beautiful line of contemporary jackets and coats that evoke emotion, inspire nostalgia, and will ultimately form the basis of any wardrobe. Each piece is flawless in its design and uniquely created using textures, colors, and patterns that derive distinctly from traditional menswear designs.

The distinctive and perfectly-tailored fit lent itself to the huge success of the Smythe collection when originally launched in 2004. Since that time, the uniquely Canadian design company has been featured in such renowned publications as Harper’s BazaarInStyle magazine, and Teen Vogue.

The Smythe collections are increasingly expansive, with a celebrity following that includes Anne Hathaway and Blake Lively!

The celebrity following of Smythe includes the incredibly talented Blake Lively, star of such films as The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and is currently featured on the weekly television show Gossip Girl.

This beautiful jacket is very similar in design to the one worn by Blake Lively in the previous photo. A very simple, traditional cut in an elegant color that demonstrates a timeless design. Picture this: a pair of my fashion scoop half gloves in my silver or my haze to offer a subtle complement to an already fabulous design!

This is a jacket that really pops! The firey red color makes this a perfect fall or spring jacket, and a perfect partner to a pair of leather pants, my sensual oh-la-la leg gloves, or a longer leather skirt. Experiment with different fabric types for a knockout outfit!

This pale blue jacket makes a wonderful addition to a professional ensemble, or it can accompany a pair of jeans for a casual stroll. Either way, the uniquely tailored design lends itself to a slimming, sexy fit! In keeping with the traditional design, try pairing this jacket with a simple yet elegant pair of Ines' my short everyday glace gloves!

Leather-clad Americans head north of the border for TIFF

The film festival may be in Toronto, but it's not called "international" for nothing!

New York Knicks great Carmelo Anothony steps out with his leather-clad wife LaLa for the premiere of 12 Years a Slave at TIFF in Toronto this week.

Her forest green leather dress and caged Louboutin stilettos looked fabulous... however, might I suggest a fantastic pair of my fashion scoop half gloves in my haze to match the blueish hue of LaLa's shoes? These gloves are so versatile that they will preserve the elegance of the ensemble, while adding a little something special to the hands.Share/Bookmark

Welcome to autumn!

Signs of autumn are starting to arrive in Canada, and it won't be long before we begin to see this again...

But Canadians, don't despair, because at Ines Gloves, we make every season enjoyable!

Here is a brief preview of what we can expect to see gracing the fashion runways in Canada this season...

~ Oh, how I love Rudsak! This unique Canadian designer specializes in leather, leather, and more leather, and has a beautiful perspective on Canadian fashion. Their leather fashion for me, in particular, is wonderful to see. However, the only piece missing from this outfit is a pair of my man special glace gloves

~ Canadian design label Mackage is no stranger to leather fashion, and this season is no exception. Pair your leather pieces with my fashion scoop half gloves to add some colour and fashion exclusivity to your autumn ensemble!

Ines' spotlight on Canadian designers - Matthew Gallagher

Young designer Matthew Gallagher originally caught my eye not because of his elegant collection of classic garments, but because we share the same hometown province of Nova Scotia, Canada!

It's not very often that a young person from a small province follows his dream to the fashion schools of Milan... and now Matthew has debuted his newest collection at Toronto Fashion Week fall 2013.

Matthew knew at an early age that he had an interest in fashion. He continues to sketch all of his ideas by hand, and has used the films of Alfred Hitchcock to inspire his newest collection. Clean, classic looks for chic women... and incredibly designed by this talented person in a single month!

Seamless sophistication is evident in this runway look... the long sleeves of this ensemble are ideal for a cute pair of my fashion scoop half gloves. Try them in my haze to keep with the idea of classic cinema or break away from tradition in a bright pair in my candy (fushcia)!

A timeless design to show a sleek silhouette... the elegance of Matthew's designs perfectly complements the elegance of Ines gloves. A sleeveless dress can quickly be made suitable for the evening by adding a pair of long gloves: perhaps my sensual round top shoulder-high gloves in my nude to match the nude-colored back of the dress pictured above? Just an indulgent thought for the elegant person...

Congratulations to Matthew Gallagher on a fabulous collection! I look forward to seeing what his brilliant mind will design next!Share/Bookmark

Ines' 10 best compilations from Toronto Fashion Week: elegant silhouette

This unique look was taken from the collection of a new Canadian designer. Joseph Helmer had models teeming with glitter, sparkles, and tulle. The above picture features a beautiful combination of a full lace skirt with a more tailored top, for a silhouette right from the runways of 1950s fashion.

The silver embroidery in the Helmer top would be perfectly complemented by a pair of my fashion scoop half gloves. These ultra-chic gloves are available in a variety of colors, so you can match your ensemble or provide a bright splash of color to an otherwise monochromatic color scheme. Either way, the choice is yours... only Ines.Share/Bookmark

Ines' 5 days of fashion at Toronto Fashion Week: Day 5

As the curtain draws to a close at Toronto Fashion Week 2014, the runways are graced one final time by designers like Matthew Gallaugher and Stephan Caras. Beautiful fabrics, appealing patterns, and timeless silhouettes were the story of the day...

~ What looks better with a scooped neckline than a pair of my fashion scoop half gloves? Try them in a beautifully vibrant color to complement the darker shade of this elegant dress.

~ Neutral tones will be big for fall 2014, but why not liven things up with an elegant pair of my short every day glace gloves? This dress has a very elegant silhouette, complemented perfectly by these classic gloves...

~ There is nothing wrong with the little black dress, but fall 2014 is about color as well. The slender neckline and short sleeves of this dress would be perfectly matched to a petite pair of my petite cashmere lined gloves for a longer accessory, or my pearl shorty gloves for an elegant, timeless look that has vintage appeal.

Toronto Fashion Week 2014 brought some beautiful new and innovative ideas to the Canadian runways. I hope you enjoyed what you saw, and remember that for every design, there is an Ines Glove perfectly matched to it!

Ines' 5 days of fashion at Toronto Fashion Week: Day Four

Day four at Toronto Fashion Week was all about fur and leather... oh yes!

Canadian design houses Rudsak and Pink Tartan went all out to wrap their models in fur-laced hoods and hats for fall 2014. Perfect for hiding a disastrous do, or keeping warm on a cool day!

And then there was leather... the equestrian look has returned to the runways of fall 2014, but with a new accessory! My fashion scoop half gloves were a delightful part of the ensemble, and complemented a black felt top hat for an added element of dressage.

And leather was truly the material of choice for the day, as we saw fur hoods, jackets, and stoles. This ensemble, put together by Rudsak, was a perfect blend of warm, luxurious fur with my sensual oh-la-la leg gloves for a fall outfit that is sure to please!Share/Bookmark
