Iconic elegance

Fashions have changed dramatically over the years, trying to keep pace with our ever-evolving lifestyles. Lately, I notice the fashion industry returning to the days of classic feminine elegance, though with a contemporary twist... knee-length skirts paired with sexy, black leather boots; flirty dresses in various textures with strappy sandals; long, form-fitting fall coats complemented by a silky scarf.
Despite these changes, gloves remain the one constant accessory. However, we are now seeing gloves and leather accessories often representing the central focus of an ensemble. Gloves offer much more than the practical function of keeping your hands warm in the winter... gloves are a symbol of elegance, style, and even romance.

One of my favorite classic icons is Ava Gardner, one of America's most reknowned and talented actresses of the late-1940s and 1950s. She was beautiful on-screen and off...
In the photo above, Ava embodies the look of feminine elegance with a touch of sultry beauty. Her past-elbow leather gloves are the perfect complement to her floor-length gown... simple, graceful, and absolutely elegant.

The oldest known pair of gloves was discovered in the ancient tomb of the Egyptian pharoah, King Tutankhamun, who died in 1350 BC. Now that's durability!

Leather fashions were a huge hit at this year's L'Oreal Canada Fashion Week in one of Canada's fashion capitals, Toronto, Ontario. Montreal designer Evik Asatoorian featured some timeless leather fashions for spring in his famous Rudsak collection...

This red leather jacket is perfect for getting noticed! Very sultry when paired with white leather half gloves and leather pants. This look could also be created using Ines' leather leg gloves and a thigh-length, flirty top for the spring.

When you're looking to spice things up for an evening out, the black-on-black look of a matching leather jacket and gloves is perfect!
